THE FUTURE OF INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

 

Date:    Saturday, March 27th, 2004

Time:    10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Place:   Gonzaga University School of Law:

Barbieri Moot Courtroom

 

Purpose:    The symposium is designed to provide legal students, undergraduates, legal practitioners and the general public variety of unique perspectives on the future of international organizations from the differing perspectives of four internationally recognized speakers of highly diverse professional backgrounds.

 

Speakers:  To provide such differing perspectives, four internationally recognized speakers from diverse professional backgrounds are scheduled to lecture and answer questions from the audience. The speakers include:

                                                                                                                          

Monica Hardy Whaley: Executive Director of the National Center for APEC (Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation) - "Consensus, Cooperation & Commitment."

Jorge Madrazo-Cuéllar: Consul of Mexico located in Seattle, Washington -"International Institutions and Human Rights. "

Rev. Robert John Araujo, S.J: Legal Advisor to the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations - "The Future of International Organizations and the Essential Meaning of Their Basic Legal Texts."

Markus Pallek: Associate Legal Officer; Office of the Legal Counsel; Office of Legal Affairs; United Nations - "The United Nations and the Future of the Rule of Law in International Relations."
